At the beginning, I thought this had somewhere to go. I was especially sorry that Finn wasn't allowed to say goodbye to his deceased boyfriend becase of homophobic parents. Then Officer Steve steps in and becomes a "white knight." But then a hot bout of necking was the end of the story (but you do know Finn's going home with Steve). This was majorly short. I was also annoyed that the story ends at location 476 and the rest of the book is filled with samples of other works. So almost 200 locations are just publicity. This seems to be de riguer for A.J. Hardcourt.Product details

I want a Finn and an Officer Pax, too. Yum! Read it on your next lunch break.
Good writing here with a lot of potential to be more. Too short to quench my thirst for a good read. Even so, Steve and Finn do make an impression. I enjoy the beginning but the ending is sort of hanging leaving it to our imagination. Is it a "maybe" romance or merely a one night stand. A pity as I have always like the pairing of a cop hunk with a more naive young man. But this is the writer's intention and I notice most of her/his other works are just as short. But if you are on the road, this is a nice way to pass the time.
A "short story" that is too short. Good premise, good characterization, and decent dialog. This would serve as the great opening chapter to a much longer and more satisfying story that I believe needs to be told. Such a pity the author stopped so short.

The snyposis for the story pretty much covers it all, so I won't go into much details there. It's a short story, not a novel. It has some nice characters, touches on some good issues, and is overall entertaining. I gave it four stars, but keep in mind that it's a short story, not a novel. As a short story, it works, but it won't have the level of detail and character development a full novel would. It's something that would be fun to read on a rainy afternoon or when you have a little time to spare. As such, it's effective and works well.
