When Letters From Home make all the difference. Ethan Miller, an Army Apache Helicopter mechanic, was on tour in Afghanistan, biding his time as he worked hard and played hard. Brooke Thompson, a fourth grade teacher, was leading her class in a project to write to a soldier. Through the letters and gifts, Ethan grew to care for the group of children…and their teacher. Making plans for meeting after he comes home takes a back seat when the war intervenes. Can two people, who’ve never met, find love?
Class of Love Letters From Home Volume 1 Maryann Jordan 9780997553895 Books
Class of Love is the first novella in the Letters From Home series. It features the story of SPC Ethan Miller and the 4th grade teacher, Brooke Thompson, whose class writes to him while he is in Afghanistan as part of a Geography lesson. The premise of the story just grabs on to you heart. Immediately, I was hoping for something good to happen for SPC Ethan Miller and his back story made it even more so.What is different about this story? It was the students and how they burrowed their way into a soldier's heart. I found myself smiling imagining as he read each and every one of their letters. Th fact that there is a spark between Ethan and Brooke just put it over the top for me.
So, things seemed to be progressing nicely and then Ms. Jordan did what she does best...she put something in the story that made my heart twist inside out. Honestly, I kept waiting for something to happen and when it did, it was believable and I have to admit, a lot of tears were escaping as I read. I might have even talked aloud to my Kindle and to the author asking, "Why?"
The author brought the story to a close with her usual style and I ended it with a huge smile on my face. I loved it...nothing new, but there was something about this book that I can say was different for me. My heart was involved from the first page to the last. I didn't just enjoy the story; I felt like I was apart of it. Maybe it's just me, but more than just being a story, it felt like the author's heart was laid bare.
I have reread this story twice now and each time I loved it more. I give it 5 stars and highly recommend it. If you love the usual stories by Maryann Jordan, then you are in for a treat. To me, this is her awesome work on steroids if you will.
Congratulations to the author for a wonderful story and for making me feel like I was part of Ethan and Brooke's story along with the 4th grade class who made their love possible.

Class of Love Letters From Home Volume 1 Maryann Jordan 9780997553895 Books Reviews
Spc Ethan Miller goes to his bunk to and sees a large padded envelope left there by his friend after a mail run. He opens it to find individual letters from a 4th grade class of students and one from their teacher. He reads them and isn't sure at first what to do but later decides to write the class back.
Brooke Thompson is the 4th grade teacher who decided to write a solider as a class project for her students. They don't know who they wrote until the solider writes back and tells them a little about himself. The kids are excited and can't wait to write back. Brooke didn't think to write him another personal note like last time until one of her students encourage her to write him herself. So she decides what can it hurt.
What starts out as a simple project for Brooke and Ethan takes a turn when they find themselves getting to know each other thru their own personal mail connection outside of the class project and feelings start to run deeper than expected.
I loved this story. I loved the kids letters as well as the ones they sent each other. I loved how their relationship unfolded and the ending was just fantastic. It was dual pov and I loved this couple.
A class project can bring unexpected outcomes. A heartwarming story!
At war in an inhospitable country, Ethan Miller is lonely. When his friends on base get letters from home, he wishes he got some once in a while. But he doesn't have family or a girlfriend from home who would write. Then, he receives some letters from fourth graders as a class project. Who would know it could turn into such fun? Their teacher, Brooke Thompson, sends an explanatory letter also. Soon, he's looking forward to their packets for more than just the extra goodies packed inside. It is delightful to watch the long-distance relationship build between Brooke and Ethan. They're each strong, likable characters. The children are an added benefit, each with their differing interests, and all wanting to know Ethan better. Things do take an unexpectedly dangerous turn; Brooke and Ethan's caring for each other is tested. Do read and enjoy this. Sometimes a bit of inspiration is just what we need to make it over the rough spots. I love this story!
This was such a sweet story. I have read a lot of military stories and most of them are after the guy has gotten out of the military. This story was different in the respect that Ethan and Brooke meet through letters. Brooke's 4th grade class sends a box of letters to soldiers over seas. Ethan is the soldier who receives the letters and as time goes by starts to look forward to the letters. When Brooke and Ethan see pictures of each other, they are drawn to each other. They start to email and skype. As Ethan's time in the service comes to an end will they be able to give this relationship a shot in the real world?
This story was short, but it gave me so much. The story was good and the characters were great characters. I'd love to see more of Brooke and Ethan as their relationship plays out in the real world.
I enjoyed Class of Love immensely!! Ethan is soldier stationed in Afghanistan and out of the blue he receives letters from Brook, a grade 4 teacher and her students as part of their class projects. I love the interaction between the soldier and the children .... and of course his growing relationship with their teacher! This is the first book in Maryann Jordan's new series, Letters from Home and I cannot wait to read the rest!! Loved the humor and the story line and I can highly recommend this novella to all. There is no cliffhanger and it contains a happily ever after. If you are into military romance, do not miss out on this one. Note to author... excellent choice of photo for book cover - exactly how I pictured Ethan and Brook in my mind.
